Laying in my bed at night,
Feeling as if I had some sort of blight,
Closing my tired eyes, trying to find sleep,
In a place where there are many peeps.

In retrospect, I really shouldn't have ate that much sugar,
I was bouncing like Tigger,
Now I’m slightly achy,
Extremely shaky,

Soon, asleep I am,
Peaceful as a lamb,
In a dreamworld I wake,
Surrounded by cake,

Cotton Candy clouds,
Surrounded by massive crowds,
Of sweet things,
Of bubbling, frosting blue springs,

Sour Patch Kids,
Tending to their gummy pigs,
And farming in their bountiful fields,
Of candy corn along with candy pumpkins they yield,

A candy elephant showering all with chocolate chips,
Trees made of Pixie Sticks,
Gummy butterflies, bears, and worms, making their way through the world,
Of Fruit Roll-up flowers furled,

Suddenly, a monstrous leg appears,
Everyone clears,
Before long, the seemingly knitted body shows,
It was made out of black licorice I suppose,

Gleaming eyes of cinnamon red,
Make me fill with dread,
Sharp, massive pitchers looking like peppermint,
Seem to glint,

I want to throw my hands in the air,
And say, “Nope, nope, nope, I’m getting out of here.”
Than face the arachnid that I see,
That makes everyone flee,

Soon, it turns from me,
Facing an army,
To my confusion, they march, or hop more like,
The gummy bears go on, prepared to strike,

“What? I never knew they were war-like!”
I shout as a catapult shoots a klondike.
“Attack!” A green one screams,
To all of the team,

Another sweet thing flys through the air,
It’s hard candy I swear,
Sugar cubes are the next things to go,
It archs in the air like a rainbow,

Before it hits the spider I close my eyes,
Next thing I know, I arise,
To the real world I wake,
Not surrounded by cake,

At that moment, I discover something strange,
A sort of change,
I am no longer shaky,
Also, I’m no longer achy,

Finally! I am free! The realization hits me,
Of the sugar buzz that made me buzz like a bee!
A smiley, sunny, sunflower I am,
Like someone that just heard their jam,

I can now get back to sleep,
Back counting sheep,
Which never works, but oh well,
Trying to sleep without a sugar buzz sure is swell!
