Trust (or the lack thereof)

Trust you must.
Or must you trust?
Trust what?
What trusts?
Trust – a queer belief in something.
But when that trust goes queer…
oh dear.
That trust fizzles and disappears.
You’re left right back where
you were before –
before you decided
to adore
to believe
to trust.
You believe,
you’re deceived,
you grieve.
And that dusty old trust leaves.

After losing trust in someone that I put a lot of trust in, I philosophized a bit about trust, and this came out.
