…It was as frightening as a many-legged creature
Slowly crossing her glossy web
And suddenly skittering across the dusty air
To push her teeth into the flesh
And unkempt fur coat of the struggling fly
That I like to think of as you.
As you closed your eyes
And felt the fangs of time sink into your body,
Quicken your heart,
And relax your muscles,
You knew that we were wrong all along.
There is always that continuous non-existent thing
That Homo sapiens measure incorrectly by hands,
The fingers pointing up to the white crescent
And told us of another day of spiders
Crossing strong but fragile webs
To bite into their thrashing prey,
Where time,
Correctly measured by heartbeats,
Keeps flowing by…
