Endless Road
Stretching into the horizon
WIth trees standing in salute
As we stroll down the highway
Strong Oaks
Tall ferns
Greens of every shade
Blend like a puzzle
All tall
All strong
Then
In the shade
Of a yawning elm
Cowering
Hiding
A beautifully plain under dog tree
Carefully peeks out its gentle snowflakes
A dogwood
So dependent
Living and leaning on
The strong
Patriotic
Stretching trees
Suddenly
Dogwoods are everywhere you look
Just everyday trees
With a wedding dress of flowers
Everywhere I look I see them
But I never
ever
noticed them before
And it made me think...

How many dogwoods depend on me?
