Dear dear love, dear dear love,
I held you so close to me as black draws heat,
Never letting go as a magnet holds iron,
Not letting you away.

Had I been you, dear dear love,
Dear dear love, I’d have left,
As a rat would slip a trap,
Holding you in captivation.

But I want you here, dear dear love,
Ever with me as the moon is with night,
Acting as my water keeping me alive,
Always with me never to be parted.

Alfonsina Storni’s poem “Little Little Man” inspired me because it was similar to “Sympathy” by Paul Laurence Dunbar, both poems I now really love.
