The Rejected's Lament
I’m sick of self pity
Sick of not being able to cry
Sick of sympathetic friends and snoopy mothers
I want to scream “He’s just a guy!”
But nothing comes out
Except empty sobs
Containing no tears
I can’t listen to love songs
Can’t destroy another love poem
From me to him
I can’t talk to him
He’s probably terrified of me by now
Smart of him to hide, of course
Because you don’t hurt a dark-minded person
Without getting at least a plot to be killed
I’ll never love again
How can I face him?
On bended knee, I pray
For forgiveness
For hope
For less sympathy
But mostly for sulfuric acid
To melt his fingers off
So he can never again
Play the guitar
That made me fall in love with him
