A Mother's Nature
She turns her eyes to me when she chooses,
Positive attention? She just simply refuses.
When I start to let loose and, for once, have fun,
Her attention snaps to me and I'm automatically done.
I turn my attention to these binding shackles,
As my confidence and motivation starts to crackle.
I try to smile and make sure I look pretty for her,
I try to pick up the pieces of my broken heart to offer.
Still stuck in this shadow she drew perfectly for me,
I'm so tired of clawing at anything to feel some sort of glee.
While making sure to clean off the dust collecting,
I turn to watch her, standing there, constantly getting.
She makes me question everday what I'm worth,
Am I some random little flower she chose to unearth?
People inform me that I'm an ornament she puts on display,
But I wasn't prepared for the seasons in which I get put away.
She says she loves me and she would never leave me,
But as soon as love is mentioned, she turns to flee.
The kind of love where I turn my cheek naively at caution,
For I never feared that loving someone could be an option.
