Jumping a Fence
He used to live across the street,
Outside we’d play, in our bare feet.
From his backyard we’d swing and slide,
And from mine we’d run and hide.
We were young, without common sense,
Doing stupid things, like jumping a fence.
But Ian left this world long ago,
Looking for a happier show.
From up above, he watches me,
Making sure that I can see.
He helps me through life, day by day.
Just thinking of him, makes me stay.
His suicide has kept me from innocence,
And doing stupid things, like jumping a fence.
