The Other Girl
I’m staring at a picture
It’s of me and you
But it’s really missing a person
One more plus us two
It’s missing the other girl
The one you had on the side
The one you felt was great
Along for life’s ride
All along I thought it was me
Not giving you enough attention
But you got enough and more
You became pretentious
I thought your new self-esteem
Was because you were happy with us
Really, you liked that other girl
She made your world oblivious
I figured it out after we slowed
Our relationship became obsolete
When you didn’t want to talk
I realized we weren’t complete
You tried to keep her from me
I tried to look the other way
Our trying was useless
When all we did was delay
I chose to end it like I did
You shouldn’t have been so surprised
She became your one and only
Right before our eyes
For all the times you thought
That she was the better person
You should’ve been talking straight
Instead of making our love worsen
