Not ashamed
I wouldn’t say I wasted my time
That would be hard for me to bear
And I guess it made me who I am today
That’s why I feel like it’s a story I can share
I take pity on all the little girls
Who talk about meetings with their first love
Discussing how they think he could be the one
And that he is everything they’ve ever dreamed of
I’m not ashamed to admit
That once upon a time I too was that way
Fell for a boy on the football team
And gave my heart to him that very day
Spent a year chasing his dreams
Never really discovering mine
He left me with a broken heart
I should have known it was just a matter of time
After that I made some pretty bad choices
And tried to hide my pain in a web of lies
I learned the hard way not to handle it like that
Because that just led to even more goodbyes
I’m not ashamed to admit
That just like everyone else I’ve done wrong
But I’ve learned from my mistakes
And I believe they have helped to make me strong

Be who you are and say what you feel.... Because those that matter... don't mind... And those that mind... don't matter.
