To Rise Again
The tears on my lips are yours to claim
the blood that was spilt carries no blame
But my broken heart sank under your blade
as you emptied my eyes and watched me fade
I won't cry any more for you
I've given up all that I held true
You broke your word and my heart too
So this is the end of all things new
Coming around for the hundredth time
But I won't give you another try
I've built my walls to help me hide
so no one will ever make it inside
You have done this all to me
whether you meant to or not let be
The headstones are carved and my body cold
a masquerading plastic mold
Save me now is what I ask
but if history has done it's task
I know it is a fruitless grasp
to tear down every iron mask
All I searched for was the truth
but that's the hardest prize to choose
There was nothing to give it proof
I've left no tears to cry for you.
