The Moon
If the clouds cover the moon,
Does it mean that it’s not there?
I don’t think that I can see its light,
Maybe I should hide where it’s a little bright.
And the same moon has ignited the flames of love,
Watching over all of the people from up above,
But, tonight, I can’t see it from my windowpane,
I think the clouds have gotten in the way.
And life just moves on so fast,
I just want to stay wrapped up beside you,
Time seems to just run out on us,
It’s okay to cry,
To sit with you while we have the time,
Maybe we can love this time under the moon.
Even apart, the moon could guide us,
Opposite sides of the nation,
But we can view something in common.
And if you don’t love me anymore,
Then the clouds will get in the way.
Please, if you don’t love me,
Just tell me I cannot stay.
Maybe the moon wouldn’t have to tell me.
And every night apart, I’d say goodbye to the moon
In hopes he’d return a goodbye soon.
Why do you have to be so far from me?
We’ve spent our lives so close, we met by the sea.
Our jetty was our friend on July 4th,
We were strangers that very day,
The moon allowed the feeling to fade,
You have made me happy,
Can’t the moon let you stay?
But, doesn’t he cry?
The man on the moon,
He brought us together,
Do you think he mourns the separation?
For he couldn’t help this to happen.
Maybe our lives together can’t work,
I still blame him for sending us different ways,
Splitting love apart is the worst kind of hurt.
Doesn’t he know we cry as the minutes tick away?
Until we reach that very day,
When you go one way, and I’ll go the other.
I love you so much, words can’t express my sadness
Of the things we cannot control.
I promise, one last time, we’ll love under the moonlight
Before we go our separate ways,
And we might not be here together,
But the moon will always stay.
