Song of Rebirth

High on waterfalls
The proud white nation lies
Marble towers circle tall
Where glory never dies

And the winds sing secrets
Of lore that was long lost
Of enemies defeated
Of lives that were the cost

And the walls hide dreams
Of a million years
Stone bursting at the seams
From rivers full of tears

Palaces and Gardens
Cannot hide the sadness
The poisoned wound that hardens
The thriving and the madness

Words cannot retrieve
The blood that once was shed
And flower not revive
The long forgotten dead

Pain won’t be forgotten
And sorrow will leave scars
But healed can be what’s rotten
And beauty can reparse

A golden morning breaks
And brings with it forgiving
The white city awakes
And breathes, reborn, living.
