Opportunity Cost
I save the bitter pills they dole me
 in a rosewood box inlaid
 with silver roses, pinky leaves-
 although it seems like sacrilege.
 Hoping that rosewood's fragrance sweet
would seep through all the pills
 and overpower the bitterness
 swallowing one makes me feel.
But later on, will I rejoice?
In giving up my box of gold
which should have held delightful things
 for tablets hard and cold.
