Our Stars
How can a life get any worse?
Sometimes it feels just like a curse
That illness is always drawn to me.
And all I can think is how this could be.
That this lovely girl, the best that I know,
Is on a path to God telling her its time to let go.
How do you fight this disease, how do I help?
What if all I can do is cry and yelp?
Never knew how much life is a precious thing.
‘Til they sat me down and forced to bring
The news, a shadow, over my head,
That a part of my spirit may soon be put to bed
No, don’t hang up your coat, it’s too early to leave.
Just stay, have hope, and I too may believe
That there’s someone good up there in the sky,
And he also will see you are too young to say goodbye.
Lets go back to the summer, lying in the yard.
Lets go back and spend forever just staring at the stars.
Hold tight to the grass, so that you won’t float away.
We can laugh for eternity, if you just have the strength to stay.
But, my friend, if you can’t find that strength,
Promise you’ll smile knowing we’ve gone great lengths.
Together we had great times, laughed great laughs, cried great cries.
That no mountain wasn’t worth the climb, when you were on the other side.
Though its sad our epic’s prime has come and gone,
I will always remember our perfect nights on the lawn
So, its ok to float away from the comfort of the yard,
If you promise you’ll spend forever, just staring at our stars
