It was the year 1940,
The year I first met you.
We met in town that one hot day,
You with your eyes so blue.

You said your name was Will Turner.
You were brand new to town.
You said the day I'd go away
Would be the day you frown.

We had a dance in town that day
You said, "I don't dance well,
But just for you I'll see it through."
I can't believe I fell.

When I got in, I heard you say,
"Let's go dance a while."
I looked around and at the ground
Just to hide my smile.

"What brings you into town?" I asked
You leaned into my ear.
"I've come to find a blushing bride,
And you have won my dear"

You kissed my cheek and held me close
"I know it's all so soon
I'll treat you right we'll never fight
We'll be at church by noon"

"I have accepted your request"
I heard myself agree
"This ring's for you the diamond's blue"
You sang with so much glee

The morning came with little rain
"I'm getting married soon!"
My blue diamond ring made me sing
On that nice day in June

Outside the church I saw you wait
In your best suit and tie
"Hello, future Mrs. Turner
I'm glad I can't deny"

You held my hand as we walked in
"Is this the one, my son?
The preacher had asked my William.
"Yes father she's the one

"Our time has been short, but with her I know
That she makes me complete.
Without a doubt I found the one.
I'll always treat her sweet"

About two years had passed us by
Before Will's parents died
The man who wanted Will's dad dead
Told us not to go hide

We packed our bags and moved away
To save my husbands life
But we were found outside of town
I yelled, "Just take his wife"

"No you won't do said the man's crew
As they pushed me aside
They reached for Will and shot him dead
I yelled,"Now take his bride!"

But all the men just rode away
Just laughing at my pain
I reached for my dead husbands knife
My tears poured out like rain

I kissed his lips one last time
"I loved being your wife."
I took the dagger to my heart
And then I took my life

I wrote this ballad for my creative writing class this year. What inspired this piece was a famous Disney Movie about pirates. I gave it an "alternative story line" like a fan fiction but in the form of poetry.
