It's All in My Head
I painted my walls black,
And you asked if I was okay.
But I've been down for months
And you only noticed today?
See, people look for a road sign,
They can't read between the lines.
So we learn to wear our sadness
And muffle all that shines.
For it doesn't seem to matter
Until it affects them, or I'm dead.
You say "Just get over it",
You say it's all in my head.
Yes, genius, it is in my brain,
Consuming every damn thought.
Reversing the basic survival instinct,
Not seeing what's good, but what's not.
Well I painted my walls black,
And you asked me if I was okay.
I smiled and said, "I'm fine",
You smiled and walked away.
