Where Im From
I am from frigid winters
to the humid heat of summer.
From the land of cheese
to the refreshing lake Michigan breeze.
I am from waterways which glaciers carved centuries ago.
To window clear lakes with, plenty of fish to take home.
From peaceful foggy morning casts
to nighttime carp shooting blasts.
I am from the wetlands that waterfowl call home
to me and my kayak alone.
From the days my dad taught me when I was 13.
To the 12 gauge sounding like an M16.
I am from supporting Wisconsin Sports.
To watching the Bucks score on the court
from Packer comebacks.
to Brewer upsets.
I am from snowboarding
to friends and I recording.
From the sky piercing Rockies
to the snow covered streets of Milwaukee.
I am from the secluded island camps of Canada
to the sweet sap smell that hung in the air.
From the echoes of distant loons putting me to sleep
to the memories I will keep.
I am from frigid winters
to the humid heat of summer.
From the land of cheese
to the refreshing lake Michigan breeze.
