Latino y Orgulloso
I love a country I wasn’t even born in
Most people say I’m a demented lunatic for it
But I disagree.
The land of Mexico itself and my heritage are things I value.
People like Trump try to put me down
Saying that we’re criminals who rape people and do drugs
Then his blind followers cheer him as he belittles us once more
For god’s sake
I just wanna throw you into a lake
You spout so much idiocy it's not even funny
You act like such a baby with your nose all runny
I reject everything you tell us
We’ll stand tall with pride
You can’t make me ashamed of my Mexican family
Don’t try to make my parents look lazy
They’re hard workers who have sacrificed so much so that me and my siblings
Can have one thing they didn’t have growing up:
Opportunity
I’m a Latino and I am proud
I love everything about my heritage
How its music runs through my DNA like its Usain Bolt in a marathon
Or how novelas never fail to make me spit out my drink in shock or in laughter
They may be badly written, but they’re always your source of over exaggerated humour
Don’t even get me started on the food
How the second I hear “pozole”, “tacos”, or “menudo” I rush in excitement
I flood all my foods with tsunamis of salsas, preferably spicy
The burning sensation in my mouth gives me a boost in energy
Enough energy to make it through an entire rodeo show
Cheering and laughter fill the auditorium as we see a man fall off an enraged bull
Events like this are never dull
Sure there’s people that go against us
That torture us with racism and propaganda
Especially those Republicans
But no matter what happens
We will victorious
Even in the face of defeat
No matter what that man does to us
Yo soy dos cosas
Latino y Orgulloso.
