"This is what I like about photographs. They're proof that once, even if just for a heartbeat, everything was perfect."

I am beaten down by the pain
The rain, tries to wash away my sorrows
But they leave a stain, just as the blood on that day
Pools of red drip down that sorrowful drain
My hopeful dreams fade as the sun when the day is done
I can't find him.
The world turns grim, as I finally see the face

No it can't be
I see his head hung from a tree
The last one I loved
My father, my mother, and now my brother
They are all with one another far from this wretched world.
I am all alone in the unknown world before me
Nothing more to see, nowhere left to be; nowhere left to go
I sit alone in the blood stained snow.

My sorrow only grows
For no one knows, what happened that day
But I know I could never show them the truth
Give them the proof, of what I'd done
Was I the one who made them run
Was I the one who stole their fun
Did I turn the snow red
Did I watch them as they bled
Do I remember the day of that reign
Am I the one who caused the pain
Memories flood my mind
Of the killer I am on the inside
Of how I forced them all to hide
I watched them as they died
I tried to place it
Trace it, the reason I committed such an act of treason

The author's comments:

I wrote this piece a few years ago. It is about a character I tend to use a lot in my writing. It is sort of a dark tale that deals with a girl who has gone insane. However, there is much more to her story and the true killer in her world. There will be continuations of this piece in the future.
