Dear Black,

Why are you so sad

You fit in with Winter
And you’re beautiful, I might add

Some relate you to sadness
But that’s where they’re wrong

You’re the colour of night
Illuminated by stars

You’re the accompanist of white
And you play as you are
You’re a gleeful person
As their fingers hit the keys

Of a broken piano
That’s been left out to freeze

Darling black
You don’t have to wear a frown

Because I know something
And I hear your somber sound

You are midnight
Where the people hold their hands

And look at the sky
When they feel they don’t fit in

There’s a certain emotion
When I look in your eyes

You’re an ocean
And my tears when they dry

You’re beautiful
And I don’t understand

How you come from the sunlight
That shines on the sand

You’re a shadow
Dark and cool

But sometimes
We mistake you as cruel

So, my black
Why are you so sad

When you’re everything beautiful
And never something bad
