Subtle Memories

Droopy lids awaken to reveal black pupils,

The sun´s dim rays dance throughout the room,

The bed creaks-

but no one seems to hear,

Pale lips draw in a quick breath,

The cabin gives off a damp,

Subtle smell,

Hands grasp a knob,

Then gently- gently,

The wooden door groans, but gladly opens

Feet step out into the cool, moist air,

The lake glistens,

Pleasing to the eye,

The birds chirp a soft melody,

Filling the world with their soft music.

Deep breaths put the mind at ease,

Tired eyes look past the glistening lake,

Heart slowly- slowly beating,

As the birds sing,

This summer, in a cabin by the lake.
