Broken Way
There’s a girl you always notice
Who sits in the back of your class.
She looks hard as nails.
But really is fragile as glass.
She has eyes that blaze like the sun.
And a personality that bites.
You don’t know that she hurts.
That she prefers days to nights.
Because in those nights,
There lays the hurt.
The pain in her head,
The evil she blurts.
There lays the fear,
There lays the fright.
There lays the terror
Of the things in the night.
There’s a boy you always notice
Who sits in the back of your class.
He looks mean as hell.
But isn’t really so crass.
He has a heart that is scared.
And an ache in his chest.
You don’t know that he hurts.
You never would’ve guessed.
Because in his heart,
There lays the harm.
There lays the wounds,
That he hides with his charm.
His lies are fine tuned.
You’ll never know his truth.
His secrets are locked tight
In the memories of his youth.
Somewhere along this broken way,
They found what they had forgotten.
In each other they lost their pain,
And abandoned lives that were rotten.
In his heart,
There laid the harm.
There laid the wounds,
That he hid with his charm.
In her night,
There laid the hurt.
The pain in her head.
The evil she used to blurt.
But now, there’s something more.
Something burning in their core.
They don’t know what to call it.
Or if it even has a name.
But if it is love,
It is not the same.
The love that they witnessed,
It scorched and it bit.
The love that they endured,
It tore and it slit.
But that was not their love.
No, it was not the same.
When push comes to shove,
There is no one to blame.
This feeling, it does frighten.
And this feeling, it does burn.
But together, their lives brighten.
And they find the light at every turn.
There’s the girl you always notice
And the boy in the back of class.
These two were lost together,
And together lost their past.
