Numb

January 11, 2021

Summertime wind passes through me,

and I know it’s that time of year again.

Miles of green grass forever,

and blueberry skies above

will never be enough for me.

I long for days

that will feel less lonely,

and months to pass by

more slowly.

Perhaps the summer

has turned me bitter.

The cold has held me closely.

In my mind and in my heart

I suppose it must be winter.

We are constantly reminded that it takes time to heal, and that things get better eventually. This poem represents the feeling of nothingness that consumes you for what seems like forever no matter how many times you are told "it gets better".
