There is something infinitely healing in the repeated refrains of nature—the assurance that dawn comes after night, and spring after winter. —Rachel Carson

I am misunderstood,

Portrayed as mean,

But the outside is,

All you've really seen.

What of my talons,

My claws of steel?

You've no idea,

Of my ordeals.

You say that my heart,

Can be no dimmer,

But think of my eyes,

That really shimmer.

I am peaceful,

I mean no harm,

I just want friends,

Who don't take alarm.

I have many skills,

I can breathe fire,

And fly high,

What about that is so dire?

I look powerful,

I look very cruel,

Like I am one,

Who wants to rule.

But the truth of me,

Is quite plain,

I'm trying to get friends,

All in vain.

I have no friends,

You've killed my family,

The only ones,

Who've ever loved me.

Weeping eyes,

A throat so sore,

Slowly, stealthily,

Hide away once more

For I have no one to love me.

Ok, so dragons seem really fierce and powerful, but what if they are not?

I wrote this ages ago, please tell me what you think.
