What goes around comes around ~ MYLK

Such large lamp lovers

That our lifeblood is in the light

But who will burn out first?

Our legs scorch

Our bodies burn red

Is it lights out?

Lights out for the light enthusiasts?

My love for you is steadfast

The light of the lamp, shining like Heaven on Earth

A love story untold between life and appliance

I want to say I adore it, that it means everything to me

I wish for it to know its worth, to understand how much I care

But alas, it is unbreathing

The love is not reciprocated,

my partner hears not a single decibel

It is unbreathing

My heart yearns for it, but my dear lamp is nothing

It is nothing but fabric, glass, parchment, ceramic

It is unbreathing

The moth and the lamp, a tragedy old as time

The moth and the lamp, a never ending cycle of pain

Pain for the insect

Pain for the household

Pain from the beacon

One last cry from the lamp lovers

Is no one crying for the moth?

The heat too much to bare

Bugs burn black

The lamp has won

The author's comments:

This is a poem about moths and their unfathomable love for lights. Hidden under this humourus piece are themes of love, relationships, and rejection, which are things all teenagers experience in high school.
