Cloning Myself
What side do I abide with?
A light side or dark.
My skin tone is neither one.
Could I make a clone with a darker skin tone?
Would I be treated differently?
Take a marker and color my skin,
Put a pin on myself to prove what side I associate with.
I can't relate to the problems one side has,
But for some reason, I have to follow a guide.
Neither blue-eyed, but very kind.
Humankind has turned a blind eye
Because behind my skin, I'm no different.
Get to know me for what’s under the barrier
Not on the exterior.
I didn't get to pick what color I wanted to be,
And I will not let it haunt me.
Who I am doesn't depend on my skin color
And even though I don't blend in,
I will ascend on with my life.
