Her fingers cast upon the pages,

Lifts up the infinite book of words,

Flips to where the number reads “29.”

A starving story,

skinny, alone,

Reads about a thirsty woman,

In need of a home.

The words twisted around the page,

She reaches for the drenched glass of water,

Sitting on the windowsill .

As it reaches her mouth, the glass slips,

Falls, spills,

The words are swirling around now,

Ink screaming for help, pages browning.

Page 29 reads about a thirsty woman,

But a woman can’t be thirsty if she’s drowning.

An artist at my school painted a picture, and she won an award for it. It was a beautiful work of art that I wanted to make my own and to make a bigger story out of.
