daffodils
churning your laugh in my mind like
crushed daffodils when i was five and
the daffodils sprouted where i walked
by the plastic slide, creaky swing i
would grab them in my palm, delicate
yellow wrapped in ruddy brown and
“look at it! look at it! look what what i found” but what was there to find ?
just crushed (used to be bright) yellow
in brown (used to be soft) hands all
torn up and mud-
