Christmas Poem
I’m trying to write a Christmas poem,
But it’s just not there.
My merry poem of holiday joy
With festive spirit in the air.
Of mistletoe and candy-canes
And stockings on the mantle.
Of Christmas trees and scrumptious smells
From the peppermint-scented candle.
Of Santa Claus and giant gifts
With big red bows on top,
With chilly air and marked-down prices
From every single shop.
No wonder it’s not coming out,
No wonder it’s not clean.
Maybe I shouldn’t be writing this
When it’s almost Thanksgiving
