She
She was scared
Scared to keep her head up
Scared to use her voice
Scared to be herself for the fear of what others would think
For the fear that others would not like the real her
She lived her life going through the motions
Day after day sinking deeper into a never ending sea of lies
Hiding her vibrant personality in a small box visible to no one
Never conveying the real her to anyone
She lived her life for others and not for herself
She concealed herself until the small box that hid the real her vanished
Her hidden true self slipped away and left her living in the shell of a stranger
She never lived for herself out of fear which led her to transform into an unrecognizable shadow
She lived her life living for others while her true self broke away and never returned
All that’s left of her is a shadow that lurks as a constant reminder of what she has become since she let herself go

We live in a world where people are constantly perceiving and judging each other. It's hard to not let the opinion other people have of you get to you. This poem is for those who ever felt like they lost a part of themselves at the hands of trying to please others.
