Favorite Quote:
Even when you face a difficult moment and fall a little bit behind, as if you’re doing a long jump, wouldn’t you have a longer runway to be able to jump further?

Life

Sounds and voices

They make up life

My life

Never-ending

The same cycle over and over

The sounds and noises

Like rippling water that never ceases

Until the beauty of the blue becomes just white

Like rowing a boat

That never seems to reach its destination

My hands cracked and sore

With splintered palms

Calloused fingers

And a broken spirit

Life goes on

Over

And over

And over again

The same thing every day

And I’m stuck in my seat

Rowing

And rowing

And rowing once more

Days

Months

Years

And I’m stuck

Paralyzed

Rowing

And rowing

And rowing

Yet I’m not moving forward

Circling

Over

And over

And over again

Life

My life

For how much longer?

To be honest, this took me about five min to write. I wrote it when I was just feeling so overwhelmed and stressed with school because every day, it just felt that I was getting out of bed to do the exact same thing over and over again. It felt hopeless and depressing and as if I had no purpose, as if each day didn't even make it difference. And I guess the main question that I had as I wrote this was, when is it going to end? When is this emptiness going to go away? And I know lots of people can relate to this, not just with school, but maybe work or life in general. And so maybe this poem can help others feel less alone.
