I'm holding onto your scrawny wrists,
As I look into your tired eyes,
not a single thought behind them

Your porcelain skin
a mere canvas for you to draw,
You're painting each of your worries away

Oh dear,
I know

@HenryBillinghurst , your comment really made my day(s)! I cannot thank you enough for all these compliments- Yep, you're totally right about the 'darker meaning'. I was hoping to express that in a rather indirect and subtle way and I'm glad it left an impression! Those feelings of empathy and optimism were meant to overshadow an implied yet persistent sense of nostalgia and remorse as well as confusion and I'm glad you caught that. Once again, I genuinely appreciate your kind words! :)

"Know Thyself" - Thales of Miletus (attributed)

Simply eloquent, @YourLocalArea51Alien ! Your poeticism shines very truly here, and I admire how the fractures and metaphors of description put together this feeling of empathy. The flow in which you write, wherein a person of fatigue and another of empathy connect, feels very true to an ethereal, literary style. I also love the part about "porcelain skin." I'm imagining a somewhat darker meaning in that stanza, and if so, well done, because it is so pertinent and so delicately displayed.
