No eating, watching tv, or hanging out with friends,

Work is my safe place, where people understand me.

I dread coming home to you,

6:30 never comes earlier.

3 long, hard years of

Showering in my own blood.

My pale face losing color

My personality becoming more sensitive.

More criticizing thoughts enter my head, from you. 

You don't understand.

You don’t understand the pain of being a girl

You can't be too ugly or too pretty,

You can’t be too skinny or too fat,

You can’t be too b*tchy or too nice,

You’ll never know.

My friends throw their thoughts of us at me,

Like you do with your fists 

when I don’t get you a glass of water 

in the middle of the night.

Long sleeves and pant suits

Cover the bruises on my arms and legs.

But nothing fixes the scars under my eyebrows and lips, 

or the black and purple marks on my neck.

Girls have feelings too. 

Girls have personalities,

And they love equal to you.

If you’d give them a chance.

And not see them as just a hot body with a sexy figure. 

To not use and torture them. 

To love and care for them

With people who feel the same.

I’ve lived my whole life to be loved and cared for by someone

who loves and cares for me the same way.

You wouldn’t know anything about that.

Because all you want is your glass of water.
