forget-me-not
forget-me-not
Forget me not on that summer morning
When the birds and the bees were swarming
Forget me not on that summer’s day
When I stared at the sun without looking away
Forget me not in those summer nights
When I was too tired to put up a fight
Forget me not as I would bend in the wind
For I was pretty before I’d thinned
Forget me not as I would bend your truths
For better that than seem uncouth
Forget me not as I bend and break
For I suffer from your mistakes
Forget me not as I turn away
For my anger is never on display
Forget me not as I turn to stone
For who will hold you when you’re alone?
Forget me not as I turn to you
For who’s seen a lovelier shade of blue?

Just some context if you've never heard of the forget-me-not - there’s a medieval legend that a knight fell into a river picking a forget-me-not flower for the woman he loved. As he drowned, he threw the flower to her and told her not to forget him, hence the name of the flower. Forget-me-nots are a symbol of true love and respect. They almost represent a promise to never forget someone, or something; interpret it how you will.
