swarm
they come at me, come at me.
to hunt, to kill.
flecks and specks,
dots and spots,
the unruly dance they provide,
no longer entertains,
but agony,
total agony.
assured, treasure lies within.
treasure of the world,
treasure to the universe.
they come at me, come at me.
to tempt, to lure.
yet again, i fall for the seduction,
of equations,
of formulas,
of vertigo.
a swarm of numbers,
like rabbit,
down the hole they go.
i am but an incapable hunter,
a gunner without a gun.
with a rifle in their heads,
they run.
what fun.
they dodge, like flies.
they dodge, they shift,
they're out of my reach.
and as i empty my last bullet,
my knees too weak, my brain obsolete,
they come at me, come at me.
to hunt, to kill.
