"Boom boom sauce?"

Overbearing, rolling, shocking waves

     Loud, thunderous, raining sky

Tsunami so large you’d be emptied of hope

               Lives lost, taken, gone

To withstand it is not to rage

It is not to be greater

It is not to stop the water in freefall,

for you cannot freeze life

I found a shell on the beach

I listened to its song

I saw it drown in tsunami waters

Smelled the petrichor of pelting rain

Deadly, crashing waves only made it smooth and beautiful

               Smooth, beautiful, small

I asked, have you been here all this time?

          It ends its song

     And in the silence

My words ring true

Just like the stone cliffs

Like the burning sun

The trembling Earth

It was, it is, it will

Isn't it cool how shells outlive ships?
