There was you.
And then came the friends

The memories

The ones your brain
Sends forward when
You see our faces.

There was us,
And I hope the end
Will find us that way.
We skipped along the halls,
Fingers interlocked,
An unspoken promise
We watched each other
Grow; mature
And when new friends came,
There were more
Memories to share,
Birthdays to have,
Lunches to laugh during,
Hour-long phone calls -
