Hunting Tradition
Walking to the deer stand in the cool, dark morning
Nature asleep like a bear in hibernation
Climbing up the deer stand as quiet as a mouse
Before the world awakens
Family tradition rebooting
Waiting, patient, eyes fixated
The woods begin to wake up
Birds singing like a sweet lullaby
Squirrels rustling leaves
Every animal making its appearance
My eyes dart around
on every maneuver
Anxiously waiting for the right one to come along
The sun greets me
as it rises in the sky
Round and bright like a Ferris wheel at the fair
