Through the Kitchen Window
The oven
bakes sunshine.
The microwave
reheats the rays of light.
The espresso machine
brews the sunlight.
The fridge
vents out the warmth of the sunbeams.
The dishwasher
elicits a rainstorm,
wiping away the sunlight.
I open the door
and the fog emits.
The sun
shines brightly again,
but through
the kitchen window.

I wrote this piece for one of my classes, where my teacher asked us to write a poem about being in the kitchen. When I was trying to come up with an idea, I was staring out of the window and decided to relate kitchen appliances to nature, like the sunshine and rainstorm used in this poem. My kitchen has a window, which inspired me to connect it to that window in this piece.
