Dear Reading
Dear Reading,
Ever since you knew I was coming you were ready.
Ready to steal my attention and never give it back.
Ready to teach so much more than school could.
Because of you, I didn’t ask for toys during Christmas.
I asked for you and Santa delivered you to me.
Just how I have dedicated myself to you.
Going to the library was an adventure for me.
Seeing all that you had to offer made me very happy.
Now I have matured and so have you.
Your books don’t have pictures anymore, they have chapters.
Your chapters don’t have titles anymore, just numbers.
Your books are as smart as I am.
We grew up together and we will die together.
You, as well as my mom raised me.
Together you guys watched me grow up and you fed my all of the wisdom in the world.
Reading, I love you, please never forget it.
With Love,
Lexi

I wrote this piece during my Creative Writing class. I wrote this because reading truly is my passion. Reading has always been a big part of my life and this is just a small thing to show my appreciation for it. It is also dedicated to my mom who always made sure I knew that reading was an important part of my life as well as hers.
