I have to believe I'm stronger than myself
or else these thoughts are vultures
circling
or else these thoughts will destroy me
I have to hold my own hand back from
holding yours or kissing you in lunch when
you seem tired and sad and
I have to believe I'm stronger than myself
or else I'll be asking for your hoodie even though
I've already got my own because you've got
new ones that I've never worn and my Wabash
hoodie no longer feels like yours
You were safe and you were sound
and I have to believe I'm stronger than myself
or I'll fall back asleep against you
