"There Are People In Your Life That Help You Become The Person You End Up Being, And You Can Be Grateful For Them, Even If They Were Never Meant To Be In Your Life Forever" - Diane Nguyen

In the side mirror of my car

I can see a faint reflection

not of anything special

just me

but it looked at me

differently

differently like it was me but more of something

more there

more aware

and

more willing

more self-fulfilling

I saw it for a second

then looked onto the road

then looked back to the mirror

there I was

yet I was also gone

that more willing self I had never once seen

was gone

I like to imagine it was me 2 years from now

I’d be an adult then

an adult

or maybe it was me 20 years from now

I don’t have to figure it all out now or in 2 years

but knowing I might figure it all out at some point is

soothing

I hope that faint reflection

that I see in side view mirrors

or sometimes in foggy after shower mirrors

or even my full length mirror outside my room

the one I see every day when I walk in and out of my room

I hope that reflection

is the man who has it figured out

no matter the age I’m at

I’ll have it figured

This poem might not make much sense, I haven't read it to anyone yet, but I was somewhat proud of it when I wrote it so I'd figure to post in on here
