Mother?
Mother, do you miss me dearly?
Do you shake with envy at night
Starkly aware of my great success
How I became everything you are not?
Mother, do you believe in me?
As I toss in bed
Intrusive thoughts fill my head.
Funnily enough, a woman’s voice is the
Sound barrier that graces my head.
Her voice sounds just like yours.
Mother, am I still young?
Could I crawl into your sheets
And sleep and dream
For just a little while more.
Mother, I miss you dearly
Awake at night
Thinking of days
When I was close enough to witness
That you loved me enough
To miss me much more
