acceptance is the key to a new world
when the colors of the world change,
i want to be the first to know;
i want to be the last to know.
i’d love nothing more than to suspend my disbelief
just enough to feel that way again.
young, blossoming, and full of life.
ready to experience everything for the first time.
as i get taller and life gets crowded,
i must accept it’ll never be the same.

My writing is very influenced by the struggles I went through in early adolescence, but in more recent years I have incorporated a lot more elements of hope in my work. This piece was written in response to one of my overarching fears of change.
