Star Child
Raised by wolves,
I always felt
too small
for my body.
Praised as
the star child,
my teeth always
tasted of iron.
But these ears of mine
feel too small,
and these guts of mine
feel unholy.
So when the hunters
find me in the snow,
they’ll cut me open
for warmth.
And they’ll be
shocked to find
the rabbit
that lives beneath
the skin of
the star child.
