Words from the Ground
Moonlight filters through webs of branches and leaves
Reflecting on the ponds
Mirroring the lights in my eyes
I wait for the ground to consume me
The vivid night sky above mocks my size
But when I’m fully buried
My skull won’t be preserved
My heart will go undiscovered
My veins will weave themselves with the roots of flowers
And I will no longer sing in the shower
But I will sing with the rodents and insects instead
