You Said
You said you loved me
but the next day you ignored me, not once but three.
You said I was prettier than the stars in the sky
but the next day you made me feel ugly and cry.
You said I was yours
then you whispered that to another girl.
You swore my secrets were well kept
but I found out there was no secret left.
The way you kissed me made me feel special
until you told me I had no potential.
The way you held my hand under the dancing moonlight was cute
until you told me you didn’t enjoy it– and that was the truth.
You said my freckles were beautiful dots on my face
turns out your compliments were just a phase.
You said I was the only girl your heart belonged to
yet the next day your words belonged to someone new.
