flannel, hot chocolate, and an indie playlist
Painted doors and locks and keys
The boundaries of time can’t touch me
I’m in a game that you can’t see
And there’s no way out
Road maps cluttered on the floor of my car
Near is near and far is far
And the spaces between just simply are
Still nothing at all to me
The lines I’ve drawn, the places I’ve been
They hold their own secrets deep within
Some take my mind and start to spin
But some I don’t second guess
I remember there being a star that night
I made a wish, in hopes it might
Come true; in a way, I was right
But there’s never enough of a good thing
Controlled variables plague my mind
And yours is free to the hands of time
What we get is determined by the mountains we climb
And it’s hard when you live in a desert
Without thinking, without knowing
I never do know where I’m going
And the Northern winds are blowing
So I wait for some kind of sign
Still there’s nothing but the autumn breeze
It sweeps past me, rustles through the trees
I can’t touch it, but as it sends chills to my knees
It reminds me of you and I’m home.
