Stars
Littered on a blanket of dark
 White pebbles are scattered
 In continuous nonsensical pattern

 High above the world below
A canvas of silver paint splattered
Images seen only with minds imagination

Once a month they control the skies
But their one-time reign is shattered
By the return of the night time sun

The king of the still, silent Earth
The moon and his thousand courtiers
 Watching over the thousands asleep

 Lighting even the darkest den
The stars shall live forever more
When the last light below says it’s final amen.
